Finance and Earmarking

Where does the money go?

In 2015,40% of donations were directed towards Skateworks programs in Ethiopia,10% towards Recycledfun, Skateworks global used skate gear collection network. An additional 40% has been set aside for 2000 sq. mtr School land acquisition in Ethiopia for our new school and skateboard park, 8% for administrative costs  and 2% on fund raising. So 40 cents in every dollar goes straight into vocational training for Ethiopian Street children. Allowing Skateworks to utilise the motivational and goal setting hook of skateboarding to grow useful members of Ethiopian society. A further 40 cents in every dollar goes towards a permanent school home base for Skateworks where we can supply vocational instruction for street children, provide an Australian vocational certification that promotes leadership, functionality and provide street children a weapon against being marginalised in a fast growing Ethiopian metropolis.

What are the management costs of Skateworks

In order to keep administrative costs low, we currently do not delegate our resources to earmark donations of less than USD 10,000.

Can I ask Skateworks to fund a project

No. Skateistan is a neutral and independent organization whose exclusive mission is to finance the programs that we’ve developed with the children we work with. It is very important to Skateistan to have control over the content and direction of programs in order to create opportunities and solutions that make sense to the children and communities that we work together with. We use the voluntary contributions of our donors to finance these activities, and it is therefore not possible to use those donations for any other purposes.
